Matthew Schenning investigates how we fence in nature, how humans are forced certain interactions with 'wilderness' via fences, walkways, and trails. Schenning will be showing 3 photographs in Looking Out; additionally, he has work in the prestigious upcoming auction to benefit the Brooklyn Academy of Music, where he will be showing work alongside Spencer Finch, Alex Katz, and Lisa Kereszi, just to name a few.

Working with a large format camera he makes work that examines the continuously evolving landscape and the different ways in which we experience the world. He spent last summer on the road traveling around the United States photographing tourist destinations and the systems of control within those destinations.
